I’m Simon, better known as Mr. Sunrise. I’m a tattoo artist, painter, art collector and the founder of Sunrise Skin Art, an established tattoo shop in Aarschot, Belgium.

Over the years I have won 16 tattoo awards, had my work published in magazines and built a strong name through my own style and the work coming out of Sunrise Skin Art.

 

But the road to this life was not a straight one.

​

I came from low paid jobs, struggling to make ends meet, a difficult environment, addiction and periods where my mental health was not in a good place. I never wanted those parts of my past to decide what my future would become, so I made the decision to change direction completely.

​

I chose to create something positive out of it.

​

I believe that after every dark night, a brighter day will come. No matter how hard things get, the sun will rise again. A new beginning. A new chance to move forward. That is what Sunrise means to me.

​

Tattooing became the foundation, but over time that grew into painting, original artwork, clothing and collecting art. Sunrise became more than just a tattoo shop. It became a way of turning everything I had been through into something creative, meaningful and real.

 

I want to do my part to keep the art and history behind tattooing alive.

 

Beyond the work, I’m also a husband, a father and a friend. The people around me are a big part of why I wanted to build a better life and create something I can be proud of.
